It integrates with Microsoft Defender XDR to assist users in tasks such as incident summarization, script analysis, incident reporting, and guided responses. The tool aims to transform how security tasks are performed, providing users with capabilities that help them achieve better outcomes.

The randomized controlled trials conducted showed that security professionals using Copilot completed tasks 22% faster and achieved a 49% higher content score in incident summaries compared to those without it. For novices, the results were even more pronounced, with Copilot users being 34% more accurate in script analysis and completing tasks 25.9% faster overall. These findings indicate that Copilot significantly reshapes task performance for both experienced and novice users.

Users who had access to Microsoft Security Copilot expressed favorable sentiments towards the tool. More than 80% of users agreed that Copilot reduced their effort, improved the quality of their work, and made them more productive. On average, users estimated that Copilot saved them about 38 minutes on tasks, reflecting a positive perception of its impact on their productivity.
